Michael Jackson’s “This Is It” dancer visits ED&T
November 2011 — Dres Reid, a professional dancer from Los Angeles, paid an exciting visit to ExtravaDance and Tumble the week before Halloween. He has danced alongside some of the music industry’s top artists such as Christina Aguilera, Janet Jackson, Ricky Martin, and the late Michael Jackson.
Reid taught 2 exciting hip hop classes and with Halloween just around the corner, it was the perfect time to teach the younger kids the official Thriller routine from Michael Jackson’s “This Is It” tour. Reid was one of three guest teachers to visit ED&T in the month of October. Gene Medler, founder and director of the North Carolina Youth Tap Ensemble, came to teach master tap classes. Sarah Burney, master jazz teacher and choreographer, came from Chicago to teach master jazz classes. Even though ExtravaDance and Tumble has the finest teachers and choreographers the area has to offer, we feel it is important for our dancers to continually be exposed to teachers outside of their own studio to acquire new styles and instruction.
Some of the competition team members also attended SHOCK the Intensive dance convention in Charlotte on Oct. 23rd where they took class alongside hundreds of other dancers from teachers all over the nation in styles ranging from Hip Hop to Salsa.
